Frequently Asked Questions (ASYCUDA World)

General Information

1.      How do I apply to become an ASYCUDA World user?

a.      There forms available for download on the Customs website at www.customs.gov.lc  and clinking the tab at the top of the site labeled forms, or simply typing the actual page into your web browser, www.customs.gov.lc/forms.html

 

2.      How do I receive training for using the ASYCUDA World software?

a.      The applicant should have basic computer skills.

b.      The applicant shouldcontact to the Comptroller of Customs via email at comptroller@customs.gov.lc to arrange the requested training schedule.

 

3.      Are there documents or manual s available to help with the use ASYCUDA World?

a.      A limited number of manuals (and are being updated as the need arises) are available on the customs website at www.customs.gov.lc /manuals/manuals.html

 

4.      When conducting transactions on my account e.g. preparing SADS or Manifests, I encounter frequent system lock ups and my electronic documents freezes regularly.

a.      Your internet connection may not have sufficient bandwidth in relation to the number of computers connected on your network. Solution: Have your ISP increase your bandwidth.

b.      Your computer hardware does not meet the recommended specifications required to run the ASYCUDA world software.

c.       Your user profile may have been corrupted as a result of the issues (a) and (b) stated above.

 

5.      I am trying to assess my SAD and the system is returning an error: Bill of Lading has not been validated”

a.      Inform the carrier or consolidator of the error and request that the bill of lading be validated.

6.      I am trying to assess my SAD and the system is returning an error: “goods weight in the items is different than goods weight in the container”

a.      The weight of the packages in the container tab must be equal to the total gross weight of the goods on the SAD. Verify the total goods weight by clicking on the  in the SAD tool. Enter this weight figure into the goods weight field within the container tab.

 

 

Warehousing/Duty Free

7.      I am not seeing any activity in my account when attempting to assess or when importing a SAD saved locally (xml file), certain fields which were already completed appear to be empty.

Solution: You need to exit the ASYCUDA World application and delete your .SOClassCache folder by performing the following steps:

a.      For Windows XP the path is My Computer /Local disk C:/Documents and settings/User folder/.SOClassCache (the user folder is the one created for you the user to log on to your computer)

b.      For Windows 7 and Vista the path is My Computer / Local disk C:/:Users/User folder/.SOClassCache

 

8.      I am seeing my remaining stock within the previous declaration report, but when attempting to assess my ex-warehouse SAD the system returns an error: Impossible to find goods in warehouse. This may occur as a result of one the following:

a.      The change of ownership procedure has not been done for these goods, as a result the goods are still owned by the original warehouse company. Contact the Inventory Control Unit to finalize the change of goods ownership.

b.      The user may have placed the wrong product specification code on the ex-warehouse SAD. Verify this information by viewing the product specification code used through the previous declaration report. Path: ASYCUDA – Goods Clearance – Declaration – Previous Declaration – Previous Declaration. View the appropriate line by clicking on the “items” tab.

c.       System Error- The previous entry report shows that the items have been placed into the stock and the remaining quantities are also available but the stock is not visible in the change of ownership utility. This can only be verified by Inventory Control officer or the IT Unit as the broker has no access to this option. Solution: The IM7 SAD has to be cancelled and a new one assessed and released by Customs to place the items into the stock.
